Spending time at Calvin’s Cabin

What to do

You may be wondering how you might spend your time at a grief retreat. Everyone’s needs will be different, some may crave the luxury of doing absolutely nothing, others may want more stimulation. Here are just some ideas of how you could spend your time, with the focus being on rest and self-care:

  • Quietness and stillness – contemplating, watching the birds, admiring the flowers, soaking in the bath, reading, puzzles and small Lego sets, praying, meditating.

  • Immersing yourself in nature – enjoying the garden, helping in the garden, walking along nearby paths, forest tracks, beaches.

  • Creative activities - take time for activities which you find healing or would like to explore, such as journaling, colouring, creating a memory book/box, decorating pebbles.

  • Local places of interest and beauty (see What’s nearby)
