It’s hard to describe the peaceful feeling in the Cabin, it really needs to be experienced. The Cabin nestles at the back of a walled garden overlooking a pond surrounded by fruit trees, flowers and vegetable beds. Beyond, it looks out over fields and the sea is visible in the distance on a clear day. The Cabin is east facing allowing you to enjoy sunrises each morning and stunning sunsets many evenings.
The Cabin has been designed to cocoon you in comfort, light and privacy. One of its most striking features is a beautiful mural, created by the artist Linda Hoskins. It is an abstract landscape in calming colours with dark threads representing the grief people carry with them, along with glimmers of hope and healing. Linda has called her work ‘Promised Shalom’, in the hope that when you stay in Calvin’s Cabin you will experience peace, or at least the promise of peace and healing in the future. Another of Linda’s peaceful paintings is hung above the bed.
Inside, the space is open plan. As you enter, you’ll see a comfortable double bed and, next to it a wonderful freestanding bath and shelf above with luxury toiletries. There’s a wardrobe and baskets to store your belongings. The living and dining area has an uplifting apex ceiling with original exposed beams. The well-equipped kitchen also has a small table and chairs overlooking the pond and garden. You can watch TV and films on a smart projector, read some of the books available or just look out to the garden and breathe. There is a separate, luxury shower room with toilet, basin and walk-in dual-headed shower. Black-out blinds on the windows and a curtain at the French doors ensure extra cosiness.
Outside, there is a generous decking area next to the pond, with garden seating to allow you to sit and listen to the soothing sound of the water, watch the birds and be amazed by the stunning dark skies at night.
